History of the local YFC/Hope Embraced ministry

Hope Embraced was formerly Western Nebraska (or North Platte Area) Youth for Christ. YFC existed in the North Platte Area since the rally days of the Youth for Christ movement in the 1940’s. In 2016 the local board began to wrestle with what was best for impacting youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ, providing hope for the future and positive change in North Platte and surrounding communities. In March of 2018 the board of directors announced at our annual dinner that we were withdrawing from YFC/USA and forming a local independent outreach. Hope Embraced is that youth outreach.

Hope Embraced exists to present Jesus as the source of hope and life-change in the North Platte area and in developing young people who positively give back to their communities. We work with young moms and dads up to age 25 to learn parenting and life skills, while providing support & encouragement through mentors and peers. We meet with middle school and high school students in both small and large group meetings to discuss the varied issues facing teenagers today from a biblical worldview. With the completion of bathrooms at our building (100 N. Bicentennial, North Platte, NE) we hope to begin an afterschool program by fall 2019 for the school that uses our lot as a bus stop and other kids needing a place for an hour or so after school. We also recognize that being a parent of teenagers is difficult and plans are in the works for monthly support meetings.
